Students Union
The Students’ Union provides a key service for the students of the college as it aims to enhance their experience in both academic and non academic areas of college life. It also provides support for them in their transition to third level education.
The Union also develops a range of services for students with a view to enhancing their potential for learning and development on a personal, social and academic level.
The intermediary between the Students’ Union and Portobello College is the Student Services Officer.
The role of the Student Services’ Officer, in liaison with the President and Vice President of the Students’ Union, is to
- Encourage students to set up new clubs and societies and then assist them in electing a representative for each club/society in the college. Help the elected Student Representatives play an active role in their new positions (i.e. getting teams/events sponsored, entering and competing in inter-college competitions, etc.)
- Establish the Entertainments Crew (ENTS Crew) by involving as many of the student body as possible and using their ideas to develop a calendar of events for the academic year
- Schedule regular meetings between Student Union Officers and relevant Heads of Societies
