Deferred Entry
Sometimes an applicant is offered a place on a course but they are unable to commence their course at the next intake. You may be able to defer your entry to your chosen programme until the following academic year. You should read the information on deferral procedures as given in the CAO handbook.
Applying for a deferral
- Applications for a deferral should be made in writing to the Admissions Office at Dublin Business School. Your letter of application should reach Dublin Business School at least 2 days before the reply date shown on your CAO offer notice. Make sure to include reasons to support your application. Include a copy of your CAO offer notice with your application.
- If you are seeking a deferral you should not send an acceptance to the CAO
- Dublin Business School will confirm in writing the receipt of your application for deferral and the decision on your application. If you do not receive a written decision before the reply date on your CAO offer, you should contact the Admissions Office at Dublin Business School immediately.
- If you are not granted a deferral, you may still take up the offer of your place for the current academic session.
Once a deferral has been granted:
- You should reapply to the CAO by the 1st February in the succeeding year for the programme you have deferred. You should only list the deferred programme as the first and only preference on the application form. You should include your letter of confirmation of deferral letter from Dublin Business School with your CAO application form.
A deferral is only granted for one year and only for the programme deferred.
